Shopping Extravaganza in Myeongdong, Seoul
Trendy local ladies come here to parade around in their best looks, and to shop of course
When it comes to shopping in Seoul, there's one place on top of every local and traveler's mind: Myeongdong Downtown Shopping Area. (There's also Namdaemun and Dongdaemun, but would you rather go to a 24-hour shopping mall or here?) It could not get any more downtown than this place and I love it.
All the popular local (like Basic House) and international (like Uniqlo) brands are here, not to mention each and every existing Korean cosmetic shop which seem to hold regular promotions, thereby becoming packed with people at any given time. It is also a center for affordable K-pop and Korean souvenirs to bring back home.
You can observe how the locals simply dress their best when they strut along an imaginary runway that covers the intersections in this area. Young Korean men are noticeably well-groomed / fussy / vain. It's almost like it's a part of growing up for them. I feel like I could fit in quite well here. Lol.
Even if you're not a shopper, it is simply a must-see.
An underground shopping street on the edge of Myeongdong near the post office on the main street. I regret not buying a piece of teal/yellow luggage I fell in love with. I will definitely come back for you!
